Seek and You Will Find

Seek and You Will Find

May 9, 2020

"Seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you."   Matthew 7:7, NT

Some things in life take a little extra effort and creativity to gain a benefit or a reward. Take, for example, the spotting a Great Horned Owl who lives in a wooded area near our home. Most of the time he remains elusive, especially to me, but my husband has learned some secrets for consistently sighting the owl. To see the owl, he tells me, I need to be in the woods near dawn or sunset. That much I knew, but recently I noticed that he walks backwards at a slow pace when nearing the owl’s favorite hangout. “Why?” I asked him. “So the sun is back-lighting the trees,” he reported. I didn’t believe him until I did the same thing and was rewarded with an “ah ha” moment as the owl became visible.

It’s true, often we miss the obvious by repeating the same actions over and over. If you seem stuck with a caregiving challenge, especially in this time of COVID-19, take a deep breath and try some new approaches, like you’re on a quest to find a reclusive great horned owl.

Warmest regards in these most challenging of times!
